FISHING AT CROCODILE BAY LODGE

Crocodile Bay Lodge offers the best combination of offshore-inshore fishing available in the world. Hop aboard the new Rambo 27-foot inboards for a thirty-minute run to the blue water to catch Sailfish (up to 151 lbs), blue, black and striped Marlin (up to 856 lbs), as well as wahoo, dolphin fish, and Tuna (up to 298 lbs). It is common to raise 10 to 15 sailfish a day and on spectacular days over 50-plus, within minutes from our doorstep, fish for the first time in Costa-Rica, in "flat boats". You can silently maneuver through the many rivers, gliding into their mouths and the mangrove estuaries that feed the great Golfo Dulce. Fly cast, spin cast or troll through the nooks and crannies of this beautiful tropical back country paradise. Also experience the heart-stopping thrill as a big snook (up to 49 lbs, 30 lbs common) explodes on your bait or a snapper, barracuda, corvina and other sport fish test your light tackle fishing skills.

Within a short run from Crocodile Bay Lodge, fish the volcanic shoreline of the bay and coastline for exciting roosterfish (up to 80 lbs), monster cubera snapper (up to 57 lbs), jack crevalle, blue fin trevally, amberjacks, grouper (up to 76 lbs), barracuda, pompano and sierra mackerel.

SEASON
Inshore fishing in the flats boats and along the volcanic shore and coast line is good all year. Fishing offshore is available 12 months a year with the months of December through May as being the best time for Sailfish and the months of June through September the best for Marlin.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
A valid passport or proof of U.S. citizenship is required.

CLIMATE
Crocodile Bay Lodge is located in one of the world's most beautiful tropical areas, but the weather is seldom, if ever, oppressive. Daytime temperatures range in the 70s and 80s year round. Showers may occur any time during the year with heavier rains from late May through November when rains usually come in the afternoon, leaving the mornings sunny and bright.

TACKLE RECOMMENDATIONS
Your fishing package includes first class IGFA rated fishing equipment -poles, reels, lines and lures. Although fly fishing gear is available, you may want to bring your favorite 8 or 9 weight rod for inshore fishing, 12 weight rod for sailfish, and 13 or 14 weight rods for marlin with both floating and sinking line. Reels should have a high quality disc-drag and have 300-400 yards of backing with both floating and sinking line.
